The Idea Behind BrightSail
To prepare for a journey by sail, you begin by knowing where you are, understanding your vessel, and knowing where you want to go.

First, consult a chart to understand your current environment in terms of conditions and obstacles. It's also good idea to talk to others who have sailed the same route before, to learn about their experiences, and to evaluate what works and what to watch out for. Finally, review your craft and your crew to make sure they're up to the journey, and have everything needed for smooth sailing.

Having cast off, the route from launch to destination is rarely a straight line -- unforeseen external and internal influences will force you to constantly evaluate and adjust your course. There are many variables you can predict, but there are many more that you won't anticipate, and you have to be ready to react. The adrenalin generated by an unexpected event will cause you to react in new and innovative ways, often creating a solution never before thought possible.

Though it's tempting to become lost in the details, the true joy is in the journey itself. All you need is experience, awareness, and a sense of adventure.
